The Winners |
Egyptian Delight
For the first time
ever there was no home winner in the British Junior Open, as Egypt marched
off with six of the eight titles, and France's Gregory Gaultier denied James
Willstrop in the final event. Gregory went on to win PSA titles at the end
of the year, while James has another chance in 2002.
Qualifying Star
Olli Tuominen was the PSA star, winning in Apawamis and
reaching the Pittsburgh final - both as a qualifier. Sarah Fitz-Gerald went
one better, winning two events without dropping a game - a scenario that was
to be repeated several times throughout the year.
No change at the top
Peter Nicol retained his number one ranking at the end of the
month, with Evans' Greenwich win moving him up to three, while Leilani Joyce
retained top spot in the WISPA rankings.
