Open is 'postponed'. Hopes were raised with a rescue bid that proved
to be another
Indian hoax.
Looks like Peter Nicol will continue to reign until the end of 2002 - there
will be four women's world opens since his win in 1999 ...

The brave new face of squash started to fall apart at the seams, with WISPA
severing links with Fablon (and announcing a
record prize
fund for the year), the SRA in legal action, and the PSA Grand Prix
left in limbo.

The YMG Capital Classic heralded a first, with live commentary on all
matches broadcast on the internet, leaving commentator Alan Thatcher hoarse
for days afterwards.
The Comeback kids
Jonathon Power staged two incredible comebacks in Toronto, but Peter Nicol
finally resisted to win, while John Nimick rescheduled the US Open for
January.

were ten
Jansher Khan and Michelle Martin became the latest members of the WSF Hall
of Fame, swelling the ranks to ten all-time greats.

Elma McSherry sadly passed away at home in Scotland.
"She was one of the
special people of Squash - bright, vibrant, committed and totally dedicated
to the sport," said WSF Chief Executive Ted Wallbutton.
