 | The undoubted star of the British Open 2001
was Vicky Botwright. Her desire to wear outfits like the one
pictured here (described as a 'thong') caused a media storm, as first
WISPA banned the outfit, then the local, national and international
press covered the story, and kept covering it.
Television and radio
interviews featured Vicky herself, and WISPA defending their decision ("it would
put the referees off"!) and squash had more newspaper coverage than
it has had for years. By the end of the week Vicky was featured in the
Sunday Times' "People of the Week",
and created banner headlines such as "Top of the Bots"
